So, due to lack of service / lack of remembering I've not been posting much in the last few days... So here we are, the end of an era, the last stop on our northern adventure. As we look back at the mystical wonders of the North Island, a few places have really stood out to us. Mt taranaki was by far the most epic hike we, as brothers have ever done, climbing over 1600m with a 300m scramble at the top to have an overall elevation of 2518m was just incredible and the conditions were perfect. Tongariro alpine crossing was a wonderful walk but we didn't quite get the conditions as we basically stomped blindly through a cloud for the most impressive half, meaning we missed the majority of the scenery we went up to see... We've seen volcanic springs, mud pools and all things weird in rotorua and the geothermal wonderland and we ste urchins on a beach with a bunch of locals in Tutukaka. We're currently in the windiest city in the country and the tent is standing its ground (although it could be a little quieter...) so I have high hopes for it surviving the south. Overall the North has been a pleasure to visit and I would very much like to return at some point in the future. Onwards and downwards tomorrow after a quick swim (and hopefully a hot shower) to the south island to see and hike the epic stuff we came to see...
